Terms of Service

1. Service Provider and Scope

These terms of service ("Terms") apply to the use of the Kori application ("Service", "Application"). The Service is provided by Juuso Piikkilä, a private individual established in Finland ("we", "our").

By using the Service, you accept these Terms in their entirety. If you do not accept the Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Service Description

Kori is a shopping list application that enables:

  • Creating and managing shopping lists
  • Sharing lists with other users
  • Receiving product suggestions
  • Location-based category ordering (Pro version)
  • Syncing across multiple devices

The Service is available in a free version with limited features and a Pro version with a monthly subscription.

3. User Account

3.1 Account Creation

  • Creating an account requires an email address and a password
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account
  • Notify us immediately if you suspect misuse of your account

3.2 Account Usage

  • You may only use the Service for lawful purposes
  • You may not create multiple accounts with the same email address
  • You may not share your account with other people
  • You may not use the Service in a way that disrupts its operation or other users

3.3 Account Termination

  • You can terminate your account at any time by selecting "Delete account" in the application settings
  • We have the right to close your account if you violate these Terms
  • Upon account closure, all your data will be permanently deleted

4. Free and Pro Version

4.1 Free Version

The free version includes:

  • Up to 3 personal shopping lists
  • Unlimited shared lists (owned by a Pro user)
  • Basic features (adding products, collecting, syncing)

4.2 Pro Version

The Pro version includes:

  • Unlimited shopping lists
  • Sharing lists with other users
  • Location-based category ordering
  • Apple Watch app
  • Live Activities
  • Importing recipes/links to shopping list

4.3 Pricing

  • The Pro version costs 2.99 € / month
  • Prices include VAT
  • Prices may change – we will notify of changes 30 days in advance
  • Payments are processed through the Apple App Store / Google Play Store

4.4 Payment and Billing

  • Payment is charged to your App Store / Play Store account
  • The subscription renews automatically each month unless cancelled
  • You can cancel your subscription at any time from the App Store / Play Store settings
  • Cancellation takes effect at the beginning of the next billing period
  • We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods

4.5 Trial Period

  • We may offer a free trial period for new Pro users
  • Trial period terms will be communicated separately in the application
  • The subscription automatically becomes paid after the trial period ends, unless cancelled

6. Shared Lists and Content

6.1 User-Created Content

  • You are responsible for all content (shopping lists, products) that you create in the Service
  • You may not share illegal, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate content
  • We have the right to remove content that violates these Terms

6.2 Shared Lists

  • When you share a list, other users can view and edit it
  • You are responsible for who you share your lists with
  • You can remove sharing at any time
  • The owner of a shared list can delete the list entirely

6.3 License to Content

  • You retain all rights to the content you create
  • You grant us a limited license to use your content for the purpose of providing the Service
  • The license ends when you delete the content or your account

7. Intellectual Property Rights

The Service, its content, features, and functionality (including but not limited to information, software, text, graphics, logos) are the property of us or our licensors and are protected by copyright law and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or sell the Service or its parts
  • Reverse engineer the Service
  • Use the Service for illegal purposes

8. Service Availability and Changes

8.1 Availability

  • The Service is provided "as is"
  • We strive to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service
  • We have the right to temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance or updates

8.2 Changes to the Service

  • We have the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or its parts at any time
  • We strive to notify of significant changes in advance
  • We are not responsible for any harm caused by changes to or discontinuation of the Service

9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 Use at Your Own Risk

You use the Service at your own risk. We do not guarantee that:

  • The Service is error-free or uninterrupted
  • The Service meets your expectations
  • Information obtained through the Service is accurate
  • Errors will be corrected

9.2 Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Loss of data
  • Loss of profits
  • Harm arising from the use of or inability to use the Service

9.3 Maximum Liability

Our total liability is limited to the payments you have made during the last 12 months.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from all claims, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Misuse of the Service
  • Infringement of intellectual property rights
  • Violation of the rights of other users or third parties

12. Applicable Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland.

Any disputes will primarily be resolved through negotiation. If negotiations do not lead to a resolution, disputes will be settled in Finnish courts.

Consumers have the right to also refer disputes to the Consumer Disputes Board (https://www.kuluttajariita.fi) for resolution.

13. Changes to Terms

We have the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify of significant changes:

  • In the application
  • By email
  • On our website

By continuing to use the Service after changes, you accept the updated Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in effect.

15. Assignment

We have the right to transfer these Terms and the Service to a third party (e.g., in connection with a business acquisition). You do not have the right to transfer your rights or obligations without our written consent.
